Bollywood is on a retreading spree but most of the 80s remixes it’s churning out these days are not up to the mark. Sidharth Malhotra and Jacqueline Fernandez’s upcoming film A Gentleman also has a song that takes its title from the an old classic but that’s about it.
The song titled Baat Ban Jaye may suggest it would sound like Nazia Hassan’s hit song Aap Jaisa Koi from the film Qurbani. But the tone, the beats and the lyrics are entirely different.
Sung by Siddharth Basrur and Priya Saraiya, the song shows Sidharth and Jacqueline Fernandez having a good time at exotic locales.
Bobby’s Hum Tum Ek Kamre Me Band Ho also gets a slight mention in the song.
Penned by Priya Saraiya, the song mostly features a budding friendship rather than closeness between the two leads. It’s shot in a typical Bollywood way with camera filters on and glossy editing.
The action-heavy film had Sidharth learning urban rappelling. Talking about how the film’s climax was shot, Sidharth told a Bollywood website, “Director-duo, Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK, had a grand plan. Raj was to fly in a chopper from Miami Beach to the top of the building as I jumped, taking the best top angle shots. DK was to capture the scale from the action choreographer’s point of view. We had countless Hollywood films as a reference too.”
Directed by Raj and DK, A Gentleman is scheduled to release on August 25, 2017.
